I believe that my “Muscle Memory” is experiencing some memory loss 😂 I went up to Drinking Horse trail this morning to take in the gorgeous hike…I haven’t done it in a year; however, I used to do it all the time! This time, my muscles were like, “Yeah…nope…never been here before, we can’t help you”. I suddenly saw someone I know, and the competitive part of me was like,”Oh yeah…I do this all the time…I got this…going up the steep side now at a good clip”…um…kind of a problem. I had forgotten how steep it could get. People were coming and going, and instead of sounding like I was huffing and puffing, I talked to each one and tried to sound calm and cool to stiffle my loud breathing…meanwhile, my lungs were screaming. I’m glad I was wearing a hat and sunglasses or someone may have called 911 if they really saw the distress in my face,”Yep…we got another 50 yr old down on Drinking Horse…” As I imagined how humiliating that would be; I kept on keeping on…legs on fire, but feeling pretty good…gotta keep the “Quadzillas” up as Kim Seaton likes to call them! 🙂 My sweet little dog frolicked and played…she was light as a feather running around looking for butterflies and unicorns….what I wouldn’t give to be a tiny terrier right now I thought…but peeing in the bushes and smelling other dogs’ butts was the only reminder I needed that it’s nice to be a human. I was so sweaty, I could wring my hair out, and my legs were so sweaty they were sticking together as I walked; it’s like they had a mind of their own,”Oh I’m sorry Kelly, you want us to walk separately from each other and not stuck together like one limb? You’ll have to stop sweating for that to happen lady” so as I struggled to walk with my legs not meeting in the middle, I still enjoyed this glorious day! Somehow I made it up the steep side in just under 30 minutes! Not bad for a gal who hasn’t even seen that hill in a year and had multiple injuries and surgeries this year. I felt grateful as I saw the benches and memorials to Greg Camplain and Kevin Mundy; good guys with great families. I didn’t know Greg too well, but I met him when I first started in Real Estate in 2008; and I was always happy to see him…he was a good guy…too young to have passed away. And another great one: Kevin Mundy…I never knew him, but his mom Kathy is definitely one of the great ones here in town. I love that lady…she helped us all through Elementary school with our boys. Her dry sense of humor is the good stuff. God bless these people and families….I can put up with a little sweat and tired lungs…I’m still here and our family is too. Be grateful today.
